Safety

Whether a rounded metal airplane hangar or a flat terminal roof, roofing systems are fraught with risks that can cause roofers to slip and fall, resulting in severe injuries or even death. Skylights, decking, high perimeter walls, and exposure to the elements tops the list of hazards. Simply taking the necessary precautions and having safety plans can save lives.

Starting with OSHA then moving through municipal all the way to the State level, the roofing industry has a raft of safety regulations that protect roofing technicians, the public, and the project.  Aviator Roofing upholds a safety first policy, meaning we adhere to local, State, and OSHA regulations at all times. While these regulations may occasionally be inconvenient,  it is imperative that safety remains top priority at all times.

Understanding OSHA

OSHA regulations cover the roofing crew, the necessary equipment, and the maintenance of roofing projects, including the steps that roofing companies must take in order to protect not only our team, but you, your plane, and general public that may come in the area.

Slips and falls are a major concern for roofers and one concern that OSHA regulations heavily address. Roofing services are required to provide their roofers with scaffolding, lifts, ladders, and tie-offs. Safety requirements vary depending on slope of the roof.

OSHA, EPA, and other government agencies have stringent requirements on how debris should be disposed of. At Aviator Roofing, we abide by those regulations at all times.  This keeps everyone remains safe, now and in the future.

Worksite regulations also exist. As well as spelling out how roofing materials must be secured, these OSHA regulations stipulate how the worksite must be maintained to limit accidents and hazards. These regulations also prescribe the measures roofers must take prevent equipment from falling and putting individuals or property on the ground at risk.

And then there’s the issue of peripheral risks. Basically, things like electrical lines, power tools, and anything that poses safety risks. OSHA has regulations that cover these and we strictly follow those, as well.
